Romeo
In late January a couple discovered a pup in the culvert next to their home which was located in a fairly remote area. Almost a week later and 5 miles further out in the woods another pup was found. It was apparent that these two were siblings, beautiful and very sweet, they were quickly adopted with families to call their own. A third dog, a bit older, was discovered in the same area, a few weeks later. Given the remote location we speculate that all three could have been dumped.
Snookie
There was a commotion in the sky above. Steve wandered outside to see what all the noise was about. The crows circling overhead seemed to be focused on a kitten in his front yard. Just a small bundle of black fur, much too young to be out on his own. The momma cat or the rest of the litter was no where to be found. Determined that this little guy was not going to become a victim to the crows, Steve scooped him up. But, now what? This kitten was still completely dependent on his mother.
Marmalade
We will never know the beginning of Marmalade’s story. But we were blessed to be a part of her journey. All indications point to a past where she was loved and well cared for. Surely there was a family somewhere missing her! She was too friendly and unafraid of people to have been out on her own for very long. She craved attention and human contact, head butting her way into your hands for a head scratch or crawling into your lap for a leisurely afternoon snooze.
Roo
Rebecca was out for a daily walk on a rainy February afternoon in a rural area near her home, when she heard a rather loud and persistent cry coming from the brush alongside the road. After a little searching, she discovered a small kitten huddled under a bush seeking shelter from the rain. Frightened but friendly, she welcomed the offer of comfort and warmth. A quick search around the area for other kittens and/or the momma yielded no results. Poor little girl was alone, cold, wet and not one bit happy about her current situation. Snuggled down inside Rebecca's coat for warmth, they made the 2 mile trek back up the road to Rebecca's house for further assessment. She didn't appeared to have been on her own for very long and was lucky to have been found so quickly.
