Roo
Rebecca was out for a daily walk on a rainy February afternoon in a rural area near her home, when she heard a rather loud and persistent cry coming from the brush alongside the road. After a little searching, she discovered a small kitten huddled under a bush, seeking shelter from the rain. Frightened but friendly, she welcomed the offer of comfort and warmth. A quick search around the area for other kittens and/or the momma yielded no results. Poor little girl was alone, cold, wet and not one bit happy about her current situation. Snuggled down inside Rebecca's coat for warmth, they made the 2 mile trek back up the road to Rebecca's house for further assessment. She didn't appeared to have been on her own for very long and was lucky to have been found so quickly.
After the kitten was warm, clean and fed, she set about to try and locate her owners. Rebecca wasn’t a stranger to rescuing animals. They had to be close by, surely someone was in the neighborhood looking for her! Inquiries throughout the neighborhood lead nowhere. Placing an ad in the local paper was the next step. In the meantime, while the search continued, the kitten settled into a routine and made herself at home with the rest of family - four-legged and otherwise. While up for an afternoon visit, Rebecca’s daughter, Lindsey, was quite taken with this little bundle of fur. The search was still on for her owners but that didn’t stop “Plan B” from forming right then and there. She named the kitten Roo, you know, just in case!
A few weeks later, all attempts to find her home had been exhausted. It was official, Roo became a most welcomed addition to Lindsey’s family. Roo's beginnings will never been known but her future was certain. She cuddles with her new big brother, Nigel, in a soft bed that has just enough room for two! Roo hides in grocery bags now, instead of roadside bushes. This sweet little kitten's rough start turned into a happily ever after story. That fateful day in the rain and cold led her to the road home . . . a fur-ever home!
We are so happy that Rebecca went for that walk and discovered Roo in the bushes! Life not only changed for Roo that day, but for the family she was destined to be a part of. They couldn't imagine a life without her in it and Nigel is happy to have a baby sister.
Congratulations Roo!
